Some people think being an author sounds so glamorous. Well since I started writing regularly, nearly a year ago, this is what my mornings look like…and my afternoons…and my evenings. I’m not complaining (I thoroughly love my children), but my life is like everyone else’s; cooking breakfast, dishes, doo doo diapers, “he’s touching me,” “she hit me,” packing lunches, bath time, laundry, bed-time stories, and then repeat the next day. And sometimes I find a little slice of the day to write.
This morning was especially fun when my alarm didn’t go off and nothing seemed to be going right, when my daughter comes in looking like Beavis and says “I’m stuck.” I looked at her and amidst the burnt waffles and screaming toddler, I stopped and laughed my booty off. So did my daughter. It’s times like these where everything gets put into perspective.
Enjoy what you do, no matter what you do.
Whether it be a stay at home mom/ dad, a business person, or a glorius author, step back and take a deep breath amidst the chaos and you just might find a little bit of serenity, love and laughter.
I love my mornings.
